The Bushwackers are a group of Motorhome, Campervan and 5th Wheeler users that get together once a month in a Bush setting to enjoy the Country Air and each others company.
We limit our meetings to the area within approx
200km from Melbourne, except when we hold an Easter Safari
which may stray further than this.
The Bushwackers prefer to bush camp but occasionally meet at places that demand a site fee. Two meetings per year are held at sites with a Hall, the chapter birthday meeting and the Christmas/AGM meeting.
Visitors are welcome, check out the Event Calendar.
As you can see by our logo, the emphasis is on Campfires and Dogs. The Bushwackers was originally formed by a group of members that wanted to move away from caravan parks etc to bush camping.
A typical Bushwackers weekend consists of the following ...
- Some take the opportunity to make a long weekend of every meeting, and might come from Wednesday onwards and stay longer
- For those who can't come earlier, arrive Friday to set up, just in time for afternoon tea or happy hour
- Saturday morning - get the urn going, and re-start the camp-fire.
-
Sit around the fire and solve the world's problems, or play a game of cards or two until...
-
Happy Hour (and possibly a wine tasting).
-
Use the fire for warmth while checking out the state of the Milky Way. Possibly over-indulge and totter off to bed.
-
Sunday morning and it's the traditional Bushwackers 9:30 am catered breakfast. Bacon, sausages, eggs with hot tomato and onions on toast, followed by an informal meeting and the drawing of the prize draws.
-
Lunch - can't fit that in, so skip that and have a light tea instead.
-
If it's work tomorrow, then it's off home leaving the lucky ones to enjoy the serenity.
As the trailer is open for all to use all weekend, a minimum charge of $4 per person is made to cover the cost of tea, coffee, milo, milk, sugar, biscuits, gas etc. This ensures the chapter covers basic supply costs.
CAMPFIRES
The Bushwackers love a good campfire, and suffer withdrawal during the Fire Season.
DOGS
Called the 'dogs chapter' by some, dogs are welcomed, but need
to be kept under control.
