The geographic area in Queensland known as 'Wide Bay' extends from just south of Gympie, north to Bundaberg and includes Maryborough and Hervey Bay. It is a rapidly growing area with many tourist attractions, Fraser Island, whale watching, turtle rookeries, national parks, etc, etc, and is steeped in history. Travellers could spend weeks or months in the area and not see all the attractions. The Wide Bay Wanderers are a group of enthusiastic motorhome and campervan owners who gather regularly, usually monthly, to enjoy travel in our region and "Laugh More and Live Longer" |
 |
The Island Wanderers Chapter's objective is to promote and encourage family and single members social activities including, though not limited to, weekend rally's, bush camps, safari's and other such activities that meet the social needs of members. These social activities are designed to create an atmosphere of one big happy family and offer assistance both in a technical sense and social side of the Chapter. Island Wanderers is the original State based Chapter and as such our social activities occur throughout the State based on members recommendations. |

Highway Wanderers.
We are the Highway Wanderers Chapter of the CMCA. We are members of the Campervan and Motorhome Club of Australia who live in motorhomes and who travel Australia for most of the time.
Highway Wanderers have a different lifestyle from those motorhomers who use their vehicles for weekending, holidaying, or tripping. While each of us has a different agenda, there tends to be a common thread in our individual ways of going about it. We're not on holiday. We're not tourists. While we are on the road, we're living our whole life in our motorhomes. Some days we may do nothing just as we did when we lived in a house. When we find ourselves in a place, we don't have to see everything.
We generally assume we will be coming back, however far it is from anywhere else.
Rather than visiting different places, we are living wherever we happen to be at the time. We have conciously given up our previous lifestyle hoping for, and expecting, a different kind of life experience. Deadlines are to be avoided as far as possible. Decisions about staying or going, about which direction to head, about how fast we want to go, can be made each day.
Obviously, we still have family connections and friends, some of us have houses or even businesses to worry about, but the lifestyle is about living for the day. |

Dalrymple Drifters.
In mid 2005 a number of motor homers, the majority of whom were Chapter Members from the Island Wanderers Chapter, discussed the matter of establishing another Chapter predominately based around the Tamar Valley area in mid Northern Tasmania. The Island Wanderers is a rather large Chapter and has a State wide area and as such rally from North to South & West to East within the State.
With the blessing and support of the Island Wanderers they proceeded and enlisted a number of other motor homers all whom had not been involved in the Chapter previously. |

Murray Darlings.
Both the Murray and Darling Rivers traverse our region of Sunraysia. It was at the closing ceremony of the Townsville Rally on that same day, 6th June 1999 that the announcement was made, that the 49th Chapter of the CMCA was formed. We try to vary our choice of weekend venues with most being bush camps on the river with the occasional caravan park being used when the weather is inclement. We involve ourselves with a wide range of activities, including group bush walks, disc bowls, fishing swimming and of course games and much discussion around the obligatory camp fire Our ‘Murray Darlings’ will continue to be pro-active in all motorhome activities and rallies. We are eager to welcome new and older members to our many and varied functions, but still like to have “more fun with a minimum of serious business”. So laugh with us and live longer. |
